Newcastle College

Newcastle College is the largest in the North East with over 40,000 students and 1,000 staff. Our recent Ofsted report praised the College for our high pass rate, very good teaching and learning and outstanding specialist and general resources. When you add to that list our outstanding support, fantastic facilities (have you seen our new Performance Academy)and the fact that last year 99% of our students went onto get a job or study at a higher level, you can see how Newcastle Collge is the number one college of its kind in the UK. What more could you ask for?
The School of Access to Learning in Newcastle College enables learners from widely varying backgrounds and educational experiences to approach learning.
We specialise in working with young people (aged 16-18) and with adults (aged 19+) who have no or few formal qualifications and who face considerable barriers to learning. These include language needs of ESOL students, Literacy and Numeracy needs for native English speakers and a portfolio of level 1 and level 2 short qualifications for people to learn personal development.
We are proud to work with a range of community partners, to blend our teaching and assessment expertise and access to mainstream funding and qualifications, with their reach into specific communities and target groups.
We are delighted to be working within the Newcastle Futures partnership to improve training and employment opportunities for the people of the North East and welcome organisations or individuals to contact us to find out more about us and our work.
