Building Futures East
Building Futures East support residents through the development of effective pathways from unemployment into training, and on to sustainable employment. The project works with employers, developers and subcontractors to raise awareness of the value of developing and investing in a more skilled local workforce.
A range of training and development opportunities are offered focusing around vocational and employment skills training and personal development programmes which, through Working Neighbourhoods funding currently include: BCO Building Craft Occupations (Joinery, Plastering, Painting & Decorating, Brickwork), Level 2 BTEC Health & Social Care, Appointed Persons First Aid, Skills for Work (ICT, Employability, Presentation, Teambuilding), Confidence Building & Personal Development, Functional Skills, CSCS Testing (as part of a construction course where there is a real possibility of employment), Manual Handling, Health & Safety and Quick Fit Platform (Scaffold).
Non accredited courses include: DIY & Maintenance, Workplace Safety, Personal Success, Living Well and Financial Literacy. They deliver "Women's Days" and staff with students together work voluntarily in the community to improve community life and the local environment by putting their new found skills into practice.
