JET (Jobs Education & Training)
Specialised one to one advice, guidance and support to members of the BME community; including refugees with leave to remain or indefinite leave to remain, the settled community and migrants receiving benefits. Their aim is to enable people from BME communities in Newcastle to improve skills, seek employment and integrate. In addition to the advice service JET delivers a training package which includes: Motivational training, ESOL focused Employment Skills Package which includes cultural differences in the workplace, Sector Specific Language Training (ie ESOL for Care) and teaching time for partner organisations whose clients need additional support to pass qualifications or understand specific vocabulary. Voice Squad Training (to encourage better pronunciation and enable improved communication at interview and in the work place), as well as basic ESOL and IT, Refugees into Teach Programme, CV Sessions, Employer Events, Work placement and Volunteering opportunities.
